BB Marion County: 4A #2 North Central, 4A #10 LN advance to semis

INDIANAPOLIS – The upper half of the 91st Annual Marion County Tournament bracket went according to form Jan. 13 as Class 4A second-ranked North Central (Indianapolis) and 4A No. 10 Lawrence North advanced to the semifinal round with victories at Franklin Central.

North Central (9-2) coasted into the semis, to be played Friday at Southport Fieldhouse, with an 80-37 win over Speedway. Lawrence North (8-1), meanwhile, had to grind out a 47-35 verdict over the host Flashes – although FC’s donut in the second period certainly helped the Wildcats.

The two high-profile programs will meet Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. at Southport, with Warren Central to face upstart Perry Meridian – a 57-54 upset Wednesday winner over 4A fourth-ranked Pike at Warren Central – in the nightcap at 7:30. The championship game will take place at Southport Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.
